the-world-of-marketing-2

Hello again everyone. As we all know marketing has been evolving throughout the past decades into what we call digital marketing. Marketing used to be more about selling the products to their customers through many different means. Those means consisted of advertisements in newspapers, magazines, commercials, and so many more. We still see these ads today, but the momentum has shifted towards a more digital approach.

You may be asking where I’m going with this. Well today i’ll be going into depth about how marketing today is geared towards digital means and how its has shifted away from pushing sales and more towards building relationships. We do want sales. As a business it digital-marketing-1497211_1280wouldn’t be great to not have sales. Your business would suffer, but what I mean is the new technology, analytical tools, social media, and how we communicate with are customers have become a crucial role in how we market in today’s society.

What I mean is that we as marketers have transitioned to relationship marketing. This has reinvented how we think and how we market to are consumers. We want to build a community with loyal consumers. It is easier to retain existing customers, than gain new ones. With the advancement in technology like customer relationship management (CRM) and other tools that marketers can use to gain insights into their customers.

What is CRM you may be asking? Well CRM is the practice, strategies and technologies that companies use to manage and analyze their customers interactions with the intent of cultivating business relationships with their customers, and increasing customer retention and satisfaction. Here is a link to an article that discusses the best CRM systems for 2017. We use CRM and now social media platforms to help gain knowledge of our digital-marketing-1725340_1920customers. These new technologies have allowed marketers to target specific audiences, customers, and use other metrics like customer lifetime value, customer acquisition costs, and many more top help gain insights into their most profitable markets.

With the wide use of social media marketers are able to create communities that surround the company’s brand with consumers and others who love their products. In doing so we are able to communicate, gather feedback, and gain insights through the use of analytical tools offered by many social media platforms. This allows marketers to use the insights and feedback from both CRM and through social media to make better informed decisions on campaigns, their social media sites, website, products, target market, etc. Technological advances with these systems has added a great resource for marketers and their companies to utilize to help maximize their customer retention and satisfaction.

Digital Marketing

Hello everyone. My name is Joseph Reeder. This is my first time using a blog so bear with me. I am a marketing student at the Pennsylvania College of Technology and I aspire to work for a Fortune 500 company and work my way up to upper management in their marketing department. For those of who don’t know me, I am a very hard-working and motivated person. I like to be challenged. That’s just me. I am in the top 10% of my class and was just inducted into Delta Mu Delta: International Honor Society in Business. This was a real honor for me. Now I am pursuing an internship with a few companies from a few different states. A few that I have applied for are with Walt Disney, Facebook, an NFL team, and a few more. I hope to get one because that will help boost my experience and help put me on my career path.

You may be asking why I am writing this blog? Well I have to for a class, but I also want to share what I have learned throughout my courses and in the marketing world. This knowledge may sound familiar to many of you who are currently in marketing positions, but for those who aren’t I may be able to give knowledge and/or advice that may help take their marketing campaigns and blow them out of this world. Most of what I will be discussing in this blog is on digital marketing. Although if there is any other information that you would like to know under the contacts page complete the form. I would be more than happy to answer any questions or post information about a topic that you are interested in.

One of the most important aspects of marketing is now the digital side rather than more traditional ways. Optimizing all digital platforms from social media to your website is very important when it comes to promoting your brand or even yourself. Many don’t understand that concept. Promotion helps to reach new and existing customers. Also in today’s world, we have all these platforms to connect with everyone around us. Small businesses to large organizations need to have some sort of digital presence, especially social media platforms. This allows your consumers to promote your products and company. This is called earned media. A customer or individual that shares a picture, status, video, etc. of your product and tags your page in it. This is free advertisement. They are promoting your brand for you. By optimizing and utilizing all that social media and the digital age has brought us, we can reach many more consumers than we have before with other marketing campaigns for a lower cost.
